Taking inspiration from the heritage, people and stories of the Lower Ouseburn Valley, the Young Creative Producer will work with the Heritage Programme Officer to plan, design and deliver a creative event to take place during the Heritage Open Days festival in September.
The Young Creative Producer will work alongside and receive support from the Ouseburn Trust's Heritage Programme Officer across the project. You will be asked to attend bi-weekly meetings with the Heritage Programme Coordinator between June and September 2024, in-person and/or via Zoom, and to stay connected by email. Applicants must be available on the day of their event during Heritage Open Days.
To be eligible for this role, you must be between 18-25 years of age. They are conscious that you might be at the beginning of your career, and we're most interested in hearing about your enthusiasm, ideas, interest and willingness to get stuck in rather than your experience.
The final form of the event can be very free - while it should link to the history and heritage of the area, it can take any shape: it could be a musical response to oral histories in our collection, or an event inspired by the illegal party culture through the Ouseburn; or something inspired by the Victoria Tunnel; whatever is of interest! However, the Heritage Open Days festival occurs between 6-15 September. The final event must take place between these dates.
We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are based in or close to the Ouseburn area but open to applications from across Tyne and Wear.
This comission covers 37 hours between June-September at £600, with a materials budget of up to £300.
